The Heat After the AC Died

Becca has spent two years resenting Samir, the stepbrother she blames for taking away her family, home, and former life after their parents married. When a 98-degree heatwave leaves the house without air conditioning, she finds herself facing him in close quarters rather than escaping the conflict between them. In the opening episode, the oppressive temperature drives Becca to remove her shorts and call her mother, only to be unsettled when Samir becomes the subject of the conversation. He arrives with a toolbox and works on the broken unit in Becca’s room, bringing their hostility into an uncomfortably intimate space. As old resentment collides with unwanted attraction, Becca must question whether her anger has concealed feelings she refuses to acknowledge - and whether a misunderstanding or secret could change what she thinks she knows.
