The Odyssey: A Warrior King's Homecoming

Crowned King of Ithaca by Athena after the Trojan War and the killing of the Cyclops, Odysseus comes back to his own land without revealing who he is. At home, his wife's relatives keep pressing her to accept Antinous as a husband, and Odysseus swallows their contempt in silence. Though his relics are smashed, he holds his ground, then survives a plot and a kidnapping arranged by Antinous. One devoted ally is claimed by a life debt, a loss that steels him further. When the coronation arrives, his disguise falls away. An arrow that rebounds finishes Antinous, and Odysseus takes back both his throne and his household. The drama traces a ruler who lets himself be underestimated while waiting for the moment to strike.
